Matt Lloyd

I started training at age 13 after playing Tekken 3 on the Playstation...I never thought it possible that any of the moves could be done in real life, until I turned up at my local leisure centre to see people who could actually kick each other in the head!

Ever since then I have been hooked, training up to 6 times a week. It took me 3 years to reach Black belt, one of my greatest achievements ever. I have been teaching my class at Kirkstall Leisure Centre for 3 years now.

Kirkstall is where I first started training, and it is great to keep the tradition going. I recently had my first student achieve black belt, another proud moment! I have always enjoyed sport, but never really succeeded at any until I found Taekwon-Do. Since then, I have tried many other martial arts, including Muay Thai, Judo, Ju-Jitsu, Aikido and Capoeira, but my love of Taekwon-Do has always returned me to the same classes I have always done. In Korean, the word "Do" in Taekwon-Do means "a way of life", and this is definitely true for me. Taekwon-Do is completely ingrained in my life, and hopefully always will be.
